1.1.12

Android

  • Dual panel browsing! When browsing files on a remote device, you can now see local device files side by side
  • Removed checkboxes from next to files in directory listings – now to select a file use long press, which is the more “official” Android way
  • Added a button on the top of the remote browse screen to open the remote control from there. Very handy if you’ve just started playing a song or video and want to now control it!
  • Many small tweaks to icons, margins, UI elemnts, colours
  • Help text is more readable now
  • Moved some buttons to the action bar – for example the settings and about device buttons on the startup screen and help buttons on various screens

  • Remote control volume wasn’t requested at the right time
  • Last browsed path on each peer is now remembered, so it’s easy to switch between them
  • Fixed a few small connection issues, eg the old IP was used if an IP address changed on a remote device
  • List of sync rules weren’t shown on startup, only once they’d been attempted
  • You can now double-click on a sync rule to edit it
  • Share data screen text was wrong in some cases
  • When double clicking a local share whose path doesn’t exist any more, nothing happened. Now an error is shown

Linux

  • NEW! Missing Link now runs on Linux! It should have the same functionality as the Windows version. This is freshly released and may contain bugs. Please report any bugs found and they will be fixed in subsequent versions.

1.1.9

Android

  • Fixed a startup force-close on Android 2.3.x.

1.1.8

Android

  • Fixed a small bug with Wake-On-Lan.

1.1.7

Android

  • Since the desktop version has been re-written you will need to re-install it on all desktop versions to work with the latest Android release. Version 1.0.x will not connect to version 1.1.x. Please be sure to update your desktop version!
  • Pro version users: Very sorry about the annoying bug found where the “Pro” features went missing occasionally! This has been high priority on my list and many things have held me up in fixing it, including all the new features being added. To say sorry I have added several new Pro-only features, such as being able to “Sleep” a desktop device, and Wake-On-Lan to wake it up again! Pro features seem to go missing on some devices when they don’t have internet connectivity for a few days. To start out, I’ve modified this to allow up to a week, and completely fixing this will be top priority going forward.
  • Added a paste clipboard button, so copied text on Android can now be sent to the clipboard of any other Missing Link device. This was always an intended feature, but the button was left out!
  • Fixed more connectivity issues around multiple network cards (or WiFi and Ethernet) simultaneously on a device.
  • If a network interface changes, Missing Link now responds correctly and starts looking for devices on the newly available interface. Previously this didn’t always work and often required a re-start of Missing Link.
  • Devices are now remembered (shown red if not connected). Added a button to “forget” old devices.

Windows

  • Re-wrote the desktop client, it now runs on Linux and Windows. OSX coming soon! The new versions (1.1.x) will not connect to old desktop or Android versions (1.0.x)! Please be sure to download the latest Android version.
  • Added support for “Sleep” (Pro Only).
  • Added support for Wake-On-Lan (Pro Only).
  • Fixed sharing of network drives, these often went missing on startup.
  • Devices are now remembered (shown red if not connected). Added a button to “forget” old devices.
  • Fixed problems with running the desktop client as an Administrator – previously if it did, it behaved differently.
  • Transfer progress is better shown with a “pop-up” on the bottom-right of the screen.
  • The desktop client can now act as a remote control too (Pro Only).
  • Many improvements to networking – for example Missing Link now detects if your WiFi network changes, or you plug in a network cable, and should detect devices through there too!

1.0.114

Android

  • When adding a share, the directory name is the default name now
  • Fixed a connectivity bug where certain Android devices would either not be seen, not see others, or only connect for a very short time

Windows

  • Added support for sharing links and selection text from web browser plugins. This requires a plugin in your web browser of choice. The first plugin released is for Firefox. Please download it here!
  • Some small UI adjustments when using large fonts
  • Settings now stored in local app data, previous version had a major problem with saving settings if Missing Link was not running as administrator (which is what normally should happen). The updater attempts to copy your old settings to the new place, but if they are lost, please recreate the shares.

1.0.112

  • Fixed 2 force-closes that happened when switching between screens

  • Added What’s New screen
  • Made directory listings case in-sensitive in their sorting
  • When adding a share, the default name is now the name of the folder
